NEW APPLICANTS

If you have recently applied for membership of Transcription Essentials, please understand that although we aim to process all applications quickly, it is not always possible.  In the unusual event you have not received an activation email within a maximum of 48 hours, please email admin (at) transcriptionessentials.com with the details you entered on the application.

Please DO NOT make a further application.  That means do not make any application at all under any variation of your previous details or using different ones.  Please email us.

If you realise you made a typo in your user name or email address or you wish to use a different user name or email address, please email us with the details.  Please DO NOT submit a further application in an effort to make these corrections.  Multiple unexplained applications will not be approved.

Note that if you do not provide a valid email address when you register, you will not receive the email containing the activation link, and your registration will not be successful.  Note also that the email may go into your spam or junk mail folder, so you will need to watch for it.

CURRENT OR PAST MEMBERS

If you are a member of TE and cannot recall your password, please use the 'forgotten password' facility on the log-in page.

If for some reason that does not work or if you have forgotten your user name or find you cannot log in for any other reason, please email admin (at) transcriptionessentials.com.

Please DO NOT make a new application under either your current or previous user name or a different user name.  Please email us.

ALL APPLICANTS AND MEMBERS

If anyone makes more than one application to join, either for the first time or when there is already a membership in place, all new applications will be rejected and the current membership withdrawn.

Everyone making an application MUST read the posts in this (THE BASICS) folder before doing anything else at all.

Transcription Essentials is not Facebook or any other social media platform.  It is a private board, and our approach to membership works differently.  We want the forum to run smoothly and safely for all which means we will not simply approve every application.  The practice of joining and leaving which is prevalent in FB groups will not happen here.  That, of course, does not mean that people can't reapply, but if you have ever been a TE member before, please email us first.

Our email door is always open for members or non-members who are experiencing membership or any other TE-related difficulties.

admin (at) transcriptionessentials.com or alba (at) transcriptionessentials.com

Thanks for your cooperation in helping things to run smoothly at Transcription Essentials.

1.  Do not attempt to impersonate another forum user and do not attempt to create a second user ID.

2.  No advertising or spam.  This includes affiliate links and/or invitations to request same via private messaging.  See Rules 8, 9, and 12 which set out the consequences.

3.  Do not ask for or post links to pirated software.

4.  DO NOT ASK FOR HELP OF ANY KIND, GENERAL OR SPECIFIC, ABOUT TESTING ON THIS BOARD.  This includes questions about who to contact with questions about your test, how to download the audio, formatting, words, anything at all.  Everything about a test is part of the testing process.  The person taking the test is (or at least should be) YOU, not anyone else.

5.  POSTING RULES

   a.  No racially offensive posts.  No posts that are derogatory toward gender or sexual preference.  No posts that use slang terms for any race, sexual preference, or religious background.  Includes signatures.

   b.  Please refrain from all religious conversation on this board EXCEPT in The Quiet Room. Please refrain from all political conversation.  This board is a wonderfully diverse board, created that way intentionally, and we have learned that the best way to respect and maintain that diversity is to remember it when we post.

   c.  Do NOT post about how mean you think somebody is or how people are ganging up on someone.

   d.  Please read previous replies to posts before you post your own reply.  If you do not read previous replies you won't know the direction/flow a conversation has taken.

6.  Do not send unsolicited PMs or email or make unsolicited contact in any way offering to help with overflow or looking for work.  It is against board rules to use ANY contact information available in the member list for the purpose of looking for work.

7.  Access to the Short-Term Overflow folder is restricted to Int. Members and above.  PLEASE NOTE that this restriction is both for viewing overflow needs and responding to them AND for posting a request for overflow help.  IF YOU CANNOT SEE A FOLDER ENTITLED "SHORT-TERM OVERFLOW," DO NOT POST A REQUEST FOR OVERFLOW HELP IN ANY OTHER FOLDER!

8.  Posts and threads with content that breaks the rules are subject to closing or editing WITHOUT WARNING.

9.  Users who break the rules are subject to being banned either temporarily or permanently, at the discretion of the site administrators, WITHOUT WARNING.

10.  By posting on this site, you acknowledge that your IP address and other personal information that you registered with become public information, and may be used by the administrators of the site for any legal situations that arise from your use of the site.

11.  Disparagement of Transcription Essentials privately or publicly on other sites is clear indication that you should not be here, and you will be banned from Transcription Essentials for doing that.

12.  The administrators may add to or modify these rules at any time and reserve the right to suspend and/or ban any member at their discretion.
